A few days ago, in a little town far, far away…. (star wars anthem on the background.) some simple people became heroes. This is their story, according the memories of one of them.
It was a cloudy day when some volunteers from Semper Avanti were called by duty. Their names were: Julia, Michal, Paulina, Leonardo (from Italy) and Dyaoumba (from France).
A simple and straightforward mission, as well as actually not easy to accomplish, as everyone can evaluate:
- First, reaching a primary school and spend one hour in a classroom, showing children their presentation about their own countries. Hard but with some luck, not impossible.
- Second and last, moving to a high school and explain dozens of teenagers what the EVS is and how it works. The Entebbe Operation by Israeli armed forces, probably, was less dangerous.
With noticeable ability, our guys faced their first task and succeed in reaching the objective. Their physical training allowed them to overtake the terrible icebreaking dancing proof, at the very beginning; then, Leonardo and Dyaoumba, ran the show exposing the children the most significant news about Italy (a lot and very interesting) and France (very little and quite boring). The enthusiasm spread by some games closed the first part of the mission in the best way possible. Nonetheless, the most difficult one was about to come.
After a quick moving, our braves reached the high school. They ate something and took place in the classroom. The tension was at exorbitant rate. None spoke, just one, the bravest one maybe, kept eating whatever he had (his name is under military secret), showing an Olympic calm. After a little, the enemies began entering. Typical American movie high-school students: the punk girl with blue hair, the muscular sportsman in vest and shorts despite October, the posh girl ecc…luckily, the plan was very well designed and each one knew what he had to do:
1) Michal and Paulina opened the way with a short speech in Polish;
2) Leonardo took the scene speaking even more than expected in an English of the XVII century, in order to confuse the enemy;
3) Julia, the commander in chief, completely gained their attention with picture and stories;
4) Dyaoumba, eventually, close the match with some news about herself.
After obtaining the sportsman in vest asked for some news more about EVS, the group had no more doubt: they had accomplished the mission.
Our guys, full of satisfaction and proud, took the train in a sunny afternoon. The glory was expected them at home.
